Why Does My Child's Nearsightedness Need to Be Managed?

Girl Eye Exam 1.jpg

Myopia significantly increases the risk of developing sight-threatening eye diseases later in life, such as cataracts, glaucoma, retinal detachment and macular degeneration. The higher your child’s myopia, the greater the risk.

Although eyeglasses and standard contact lenses can correct a person’s vision, they do not treat the underlying cause of myopia or slow its progression. This is where myopia management comes in.

If you’re concerned about your child’s long-term eye health and vision, contact Wesson and Mothershed Eye Center today. We can help.

Myopia Management

Our patients enjoy the continuity of speaking to the doctors they know and are familiar with, our team of experienced staff, and greater level of comfort. Most patients, on the day of surgery, will be in and out within an hour to an hour and a half on average, since they've completed their pre-op testing & measurements, insurance & financing planning, and discussions with their eye doctor in advance.

Because our surgical center caters only to eye care procedures, our hospital suites are able to provide patients their own space that's inviting and an attentive staff to support them on their day of surgery. Our team only deals with eye surgery, so you'll have someone around to answer any of your questions and concerns as well.

Our practice's mission is to bring our patients the level of care they deserve through our team of passionate and dedicated eye care professionals. We look forward to welcoming you into our patient family.
