Do you have an eye exam fast approaching? If you want to make sure your exam is effective and worthwhile, there are several facts we'll need to know.
Because your eyes can be affected by seemingly unrelated changes in your body, you'll need to inform us of any changes you might be aware of. What are the sorts of things we'd need to be informed of? Here are some examples: diabetes, pregnancy, high blood pressure or allergies.
Habits like drinking or smoking can have a negative effect on vision, so if these are parts of your lifestyle, keep us informed. Additionally, we will look at what you're actually using your eyes for. Do you work in a factory, or do you work in an office? Knowing this information can help us to figure out your treatment plan.
And if you have any eye diseases that effect anyone in your family, you should tell us, because a number of them are hereditary. Understandably, it's much easier to keep an eye out for symptoms when we're informed about which conditions you're prone to.
Some symptoms include things like seeing double, spots or flashing lights. If you begin to experience any of these, come see us as soon as you can. We'll then do our very best to get to bottom of the root of the condition, and then recommend the most appropriate treatment. Do remember to take your most recent pair of glasses along to the exam; even if you wear contact lenses, as examining your present glasses gives us useful information. So don't forget all this when you next see us. Together, we'll figure out the most efficient way to resolve any vision issue you may be having!
